Hello dear readers! I hope everyone has had a great week! I am so happy that it’s finally Friday. Summer has begun, school is out, and my hubby got off work early. We have a wedding to go to this weekend, so I have been eagerly shopping to get ready for it. We are actually going to spend the night with our dearest friends at a hotel overnight, WITHOUT THE KIDS! Thanks to my in-laws, this will be the first official night without Batman and Robin since Robin was born. We are pretty excited to at least sleep an entire night without having to wake up to a teething babe. While shopping for this weekend, I realized just how many local boutique’s we have in Michigan that sell great handmade items. I love supporting local stores.
For those that don’t already know, I actually crochet. I have made blankets, hats, diaper covers, booties, etc. I haven’t picked up a hook since I was about 19 weeks pregnant with my youngest. Laziness. I can only imagine the mess that would be made if I brought out a ball of yarn for my 1.5 year old to get into, ha! That child is going to be jumping off the roof one day if I ever turn my back on him, Lord help me.
Anyways, having been a creator and seller myself, I can truly appreciate the hard work that goes into handmade items! It takes a lot of love, patience, and persistence to do what you love. During my recent search, I came across this truly adorable shirt on Etsy. And, bingo, the owner is based in Michigan like me!
When I started my search, I was looking for a shirt that was a little goofy. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I like to post some pretty silly videos. It really makes my day to make someone laugh, or even just giggle a little at my craziness. Because I totally am crazy, but in a safe, non-threatening kind of way. ;).
Motherhood is just too hard sometimes, and I believe we need to laugh a little to break up all the tension it brings. When I found Inspired by Eliana, I seriously cracked up! This mama definitely catered to my sense of humor. Her “Tired as a Mother” tee really stood out to me. I loved the play on words, and the cursive handwriting was so charming.
It was also incredibly fitting for motherhood. What is more tiring that being a mom? Need I mention the sleepless nights, teething (you evil baby teeth, you!), fevers, constant worry for your child’s safety, cleaning the house 65498125x a day, school drop off, pregnancy woes, doctor’s appointments, or mom shaming? I’m tired now. I need to take a nap in my super comfortable tee. It’s 90% cotton and 10% polyester for your #momlife.
Krystal, the shop owner of Inspired by Eliana, was very kind and easy to work with. When I inquired about shirt options and colors with her, and she got back to me quickly with answers to help my decision. This “Tired as a Mother” tee actually comes in two styles, the first being the V-neck shirt I am wearing, and the second being a racerback tank top. I debated heavily on getting the racerback tank top, but I ultimately decided the V-neck was more suiting for my everyday life.
The racerback tank is really cute too, and would be great for beating the heat. We have had a 90 degree heat wave here in Michigan, so I can only imagine the summer heat if you live down south.
Shipping was insanely fast, but I should mention again that we do live within the same state. Her usual turn around time for each item is about 1-3 business days anyways! I received the shirt beautifully wrapped in tissue paper, ribbon and a custom sticker! SWOON.
I was actually supposed to go to a baby shower last week, for which I ended up having to mail a gift card. I really hate giving gift cards, even if that is what people ask for, because it just feels so impersonal. But, it is easier than disappointing the recipient with a gift they feel obligated to keep around out of politeness. I do wish I had found this shirt earlier though! I am seriously debating getting a second one of these shirts for the new mama because of how beautiful and hilarious they are.
My absolute favorite part of this shirt is the lettering. Not only is the cursive wording beautiful and feminine to wear, it is also very flush with the shirt. I know I won’t have to worry about the edges lifting up and peeling away. I don’t know about you, but I have purchased a few T-shirts in my day that have had thicker lettering applied, only to have just that happen within a few washes.
The V-neck style was perfect for me. I am not incredibly busty by ANY means, even when I’m breastfeeding ;), but I imagine that this wouldn’t show very much cleavage should you be blessed in the chest. It just sits…perfectly on me. Am I saying ‘perfect’ too much? I can’t help it, jeez. I’m a writer for goodness sake, why can’t I find a better word? But then again, what’s more perfect than ‘perfect’? Ah, you get the point.
The washing instructions are the same for any of my other clothes – nothing special to worry about as far as turning the shirt inside out or laying flat to dry. Wash, dry, fold, and wear again! I can really appreciate an adorable, affordable and low-maintenance T-shirt – especially considering my laundry is mostly done first thing in the morning while the coffee I’ve inhaled hasn’t quite reached my brain, or right before bed when I’m running on fumes.
After wearing it around town, I have to say, I love it! I highly recommend this shirt for summer time. It is so comfortable, and charming in all the right ways! I giggle every time I read it out loud. My husband was adorable the first time he read it out loud as, “Tired as a mother f****r?” Sure, dear. I need to use my picture from this post where I am rolling my eyes and make him a custom meme for when he says these adorable things. I love that man. He seriously taught me how to laugh. I didn’t have a sense of humor before I met him, and now I can find fun in almost everything. Including this sarcastic and hilarious t-shirt!
I wore it out to the grocery store to pick up some milk and baby wipes, and in the maybe ten minutes my kids and I spent in the store, I received FOUR compliments and three double takes to read my shirt. Okay, so one of those double takes was a dude. But I’m hoping he was a dad thinking of his wife and not a creep. 🙂
This “Tired as a Mother” T-shirt would make a great gift for a baby shower, Mother’s Day, or just a nice summer shirt to have on at the park! Anything that can make another mama smile, makes me smile! You won’t be disappointed with this one! Visit Krystal’s store, Inspired By Eliana, to get yours!
